By that I mean the stock standard, pathetic 4 cylinder petrol driven vehicles.....of which I'm proudly one!
Here in Alice it's been raining for most of the week and we went to find mud. yeehaaa.
Found some flowing rivers which sprang out of nowhere too!
I was with a V8 Range Rover beast and a Landy TDi - and my little truck went everywhere they did! Including up a monster of a
hill with a nasty
slippery rock. Took me 3 tries but I didn't go up the chicken run!
And with no
snorkel I had to get across the river!
Mazda rocks!

Dont think that because you have a 4 cylinder petrol 4 wheel drive you are not up there. Depends on your needs as to wether you need for towing a large van, room etc a 4 cylinder is fine. Look at where the little suz's go, eg sierra, vitara's, not including all the other 4's out there. Dont have to have the best to have some fun. Had a little Jimny infront of us doing a
river crossing and he had the
water 1/3 of the way up his windscreen and come out the other side. Yes he had a
snorkel but no
water blind etc. I was waiting for it to stop halfway or cough and splutter on the other side, nup kept going for the rest of the day. Surprised me and the inlaws sitting in the back
seat when we saw it first go in the deep. Good on ya have some fun thats what its all about. Regards Steve M

We downsized from a GQ LWB Patrol 4.2D to a Toyo 4Runner 2.8D. Both absolute slugs on the road but really, the only thing we downsized was the size of the vehicle. No loss in road speed, off road ability, comfort (or lack of), and not much loss of actual space once set up right. Gained in the fuel economy dept.
All depends on what you want & what you need.

Hey Hairy,
I've heard of the Widow maker, but this
hill only had one chicken run and I thought the WM had 3 tracks to it? But yes, somewhere in that area....
